Impact factor

The impact factor is calculated as follows. For the latest 2010 data it is total number of cites in 2009 to articles published in 2008 and 2007, divided by the total number of articles published in 2008 and 2007.

Cited half life

The cited half life is defined as the number of publication years from the current JCR year i.e. 2009 that account for 50% of citations received by the journal. This is an important integer as it indicates the long term influence that a journal may have on the subject area over a period of time.
