Dr Steve Matthews obtained a degree in Materials Technology
from Coventry Polytechnic and obtained his PhD in Cavitation erosion from Coventry
University and a BTEC in Management Studies from Oxford Brookes University. He
has 12 years experience in Materials and Corrosion section of BG Technology Upstream
Services based at the Gas Research and Technology Centre at Loughborough. BG Technology
has experience in cathodic protection, stainless steel and nickel alloy corrosion,
stress corrosion cracking, selection and performance of ceramics for seawater
and high temperature applications as well as refractory linings and surface engineering
for deepwater subsea oil and gas production. Dr Matthews is a member of the steering
committee of the JV Erosion-Corrosion research programme run at Tulsa University,
USA.
