Reducing the Costs of Marine Renewables via Advanced Structural Materials (ReC-ASM)

ReC-ASM aims to develop a strategy to reduce the cost of marine renewables. In order to achieve this goal and to address these challenges, a team of experts from the Tidal Energy, Material Science and Tribo-Corrosion areas are combining their skills in a multi-disciplinary format.

There are great aspirations for marine renewables to make a major contribution to the UK’s future energy mix. However due to the extreme nature of the marine environment there are many challenges to be addressed before this can become a reality.

ReC-ASM brings together key expertise in marine renewables modelling and materials/structural testing for innovative and high quality research to enable UK Industry to remain competitive in a fast moving area in marine renewable technology.
